We are frequently asked what the difference is between a conservatory and an orangery.
An orangery is a substantial, light, airy building with a flat roof and a raised glazed centre lantern or atria that gives that special classy touch. A custom built, double glazed hardwood orangery from Atrium will substantially benefit your home or premises. It can be used as a dining room, additional lounge area and has more recently become popular as a kitchen extension.
We do not produce standard buildings. Each hardwood orangery is truly bespoke and designed to fit in with its surroundings. We will create an orangery that both reflects your wishes and will blend in with, rather than dominate, your house.
All of our orangeries are designed and built with "year round use" in mind. The levels of insulation, heating and ventilation are all created so that regardless of our changeable climate you are comfortable and happy to use the building as a further and very stylish part of your home.
With an orangery from Atrium the choice of finish is entirely up to you, whether you would like a heritage colour, natural wood stain, oak finish or even a dual-coloured design. We have the craftsmen who will match the timber mouldings and style to your home, or, of course, create a completely new colour scheme from "period" to Contemporary. We have 40 years of experience in creating designs which are "appropriate" yet creative.

This is where we start and the work that takes place underpins all that we do. This process is about an in depth discovery of who you are and how you live – getting to know you and your requirements so that your design is totally tailored to you, adding personality to the project.
We will meet you to discuss your requirements - this will include a site survey and discussion concerning design and budget of the project.
We will design a project and produce drawings, detailed costings and a full specification.
A detailed quotation (normally fixed price) based upon the design proposed will be supplied. There is no obligation to purchase and no charge for this service.
Once you have placed your order we will deal with any “planning” or listed building matters on your behalf, alternatively you may decide to deal with these matters yourself. Planning permission is generally not required.
Once the formalities have been completed our building division will proceed with the building works unless you arrange this work yourself. We are happy to supply full and detailed information for your builder to carry out this function.
Once the building works are complete we will carry out a site survey. Manufacture sizes, the colour, furniture, moulding and glass specifications will be noted at the same time.
Your project will be manufactured in one of our factories. You are welcome to visit us as manufacture progresses (please call or email to arrange a visit).
Installation will be carried out by our own direct employed workforce. The completed installation will be signed off by the team involved. Alternatively, one of our surveyors can be requested.
Upon payment of the final invoice your guarantee and aftercare advice will be posted to you and you are finally left to enjoy the building you have been waiting for.
