Planning policies vary from area to area. In many cases planning permission is not required for the erection of a Conservatory or Orangery or the installation of replacement windows and doors. However we would be happy to advise on any formal regulatory matter required. This service is, of course, free of charge.
We have an excellent reputation for working with Listed buildings and projects in Conservation Areas. We normally have the experience to know what will be acceptable from the start
We are happy to supply bespoke hardwood Conservatories, Orangeries, lantern roofs, windows, doors and secondary glazing for installation by builders or customers.
We will supply full building drawings for the Conservatory or Orangery baseworks and will be happy to assist with any technical queries which may arise as the project progresses.
We are more than happy to offer you our full or part ‘Turnkey’ service from the foundations to the final floor finish. We do not employ any sub-contract labour, all our work is carried out by our own employees.
We don’t have any standard designs - basically the only limit is your own imagination and the structural integrity of the proposed building. If you already have a design in mind, we are happy to give you accurate costings on that. Ideally we can arrange a visit to discuss your requirements and will then provide you with a scale drawing along with an itemised breakdown of “cost”.
We are able to match or blend in with any colour scheme or natural timber finish. We can also offer multi-coloured finishes with different colours or finishes on the inside and outside. If you have a colour in mind we will be happy to match it.
White does not need to be a boring “fridge” white. We can often select from the range of English Heritage whites that offer some flexibility and are usually accepted by the planners. We will work with the planning authorities to come up with an acceptable “white-ish” colour that adds character to the Conservatory or Orangery.
All elements of a building, or windows or doors are manufactured on our own premises. Only the toughened glass sealed units, hinges, locks and other metal fittings are bought in.
All glass sealed units are covered against unit failure by the five year guarantee underwritten by the manufacturers (does not include/cover broken glass). All other items are guaranteed insofar as we are in control or have been in control of the materials or labour concerned. (Copy guarantees are available on request).
Note: Atriums guarantee is limited by the requirement for basic maintenance e.g. lubricating mechanical mechanisms and maintaining a sound finish to the woodwork. Damage occurring due to misuse or lack of maintenance is not covered by our guarantee.
This question is like asking “How much is a silver car?” We offer high quality products at competitive prices and do not have a standard price - feel free to ask for a no obligation (free of charge) quotation for a bespoke building. The bigger and more elaborate the project, the higher the price - the specification you choose will also be reflected in the price.
Modern microporous finishes and advances in joinery structure result in much reduced maintenance. When re-coating a Conservatory or Orangery, there is little to no preparatory work required other than wiping down prior to a new application. Re-coating may be carried out at any period between 2 and 11 years depending on the exposure of the Conservatory. Roofs are generally finished with aluminium glazing caps which require no maintenance whatsoever.
If properly designed and specified from the outset - NO. If in doubt have a roof window fitted. The conservatory will be ventilating constantly due to “hot air rising”. Generally we would specify and fit a roof glass which is not only highly insulating but is also largely self cleaning and solar reflective (25% to 91%) holding out unwanted heat generated by “solar gain”.
We are a FENSA registered company and will arrange for FENSA to issue a certificate for any new Windows and Doors fitted by us. Building regulation approval may be required for Orangeries and Conservatories depending on the circumstances. Please contact us for advice on the subject. Should formal regulation approval be required we would normally organize this on your behalf.
Whilst most of our work is carried out in our neighbouring counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire, and Powys we build Conservatories and Orangeries all over the UK – we have also built conservatories in the Channel Islands, West (and East) Germany, France, Holland and even the USA. We are certainly happy to supply and regularly install throughout the whole of the UK (further afield does take a little more organisation).
The cost of our Full “Turnkey” service is, however, determined by the distance from the factory. Please feel free to discuss your requirements and we will endeavour to help.
